WORK EXPERIENCE

Giant Bicycle, Global E-Mountain Bike Launch 2022

  • Assisted with organizing an international e-mountain bike launch event for mountain bike magazines and web editors.  Executed pro-level builds on a fleet of 35+ bicycles. Provided critical feedback to the product department to share with the factory before the final production stage. Collaborated with the OEM partners Fox and Sram to support the launch event.

Giant Bicycle Global Race Team, Downhill Mechanic 1999-2002

  • In my 22+ year role at Giant Bicycle, I started as a lead downhill mechanic and was promoted to the Teams Manager and Director role.  I managed all aspects of the Global Race Team, cultivated Giant’s team sponsors, and assisted with the Giant USA demo program. I helped develop and improve bicycle products of all types. Giant Bicycle, Inc., Newbury Park, CA is the world’s leading manufacturer of quality bicycles and gear with over $3 billion in annual sales.

  • Developed annual team strategy.  Collaborated with sponsors/OEM partners for brand exposure through specific brand initiatives to drive sales and increase retailer traffic

  • Negotiated and maintained agreements relating to professional athletes, OEM partners, sponsors, and staff

  • Planned and executed team camps, off-road racing, consumer demo events, festivals, dealer events, OEM test camps, and media launches 

  • Developed written policies, processes, and procedures for team and demo bike and e-bike building 

  • Supervised assembly and maintenance of team and demo bicycles

  • Organized and fulfilled team orders from sponsors and OEM partners for the team, and demo programs

  • Monitored and compiled product feedback reports for sponsors and product departments

  • Provided mechanical and development support on the full range of off-road bicycles

Marin Mountain Bikes, Team Mechanic 1995-1997

  • Mechanic for international and domestic events, including World Cup cross-country and downhill, NORBA Nationals events. Built and maintained the team’s fleet of bicycles, organized and ordered team parts, and assisted in the Warranty Department in the off-season.

  • Mechanic for one of the best shops in the region, repair, and assembly of all types of bicycles, wheel building, frame straightening, brazing - staff management, ordering, bike fitting, and retail sales.

ABOUT ME

At a young age, I fell in love with bicycles. I worked in bike shops and raced bikes while in high school and beyond. Combining my love of bike racing and bicycle shop mechanics, I landed my first race team mechanic job in 1995 with Marin mountain bikes. I was in heaven!

After working with multiple programs, Giant Global Racing recruited me as their lead downhill mechanic, then promoted me to a Team Manager /Director role. My time with the Giant Team/ Giant Factory Off-Road Team was amazing and ran for 22+ years. I managed all aspects of the Global Race Team, cultivated Giant’s team sponsors, and assisted with the Giant USA demo program. I helped develop and improved bicycle products of all types.
